What to Expect

The Therapist

I have received a rigorous academic and practical training to know how to work with psychological difficulties and underlying problems.

I am certified, registered, insured, and in continuous professional development.

I have also undergone psychotherapy myself and have a valuable experience of how it feels to be on your side.

I hold your best interest at heart and see my supervisor regularly to support me in my work with you.

The Room

The sessions take place in a safe and confidential environment where you and I can have a private conversation in comfortable surroundings.

I see clients in Wokingham Therapy Clinic located in the town centre. The clinic has a small waiting area and toilets available.

I also offer Online Counselling.

The Journey

The process of counselling goes through different stages. Although it differs from person to person and the problems you bring, it can broadly be described as follows:

- One of the crucial stages is you gathering your courage to begin the process and look for the counsellor!

- Once you have found the person you want to work with, you agree on practical terms. It will then take your counsellor a few sessions to figure out together with you what it is exactly that you would like to focus on.

- Following from that, your therapist will ask you questions, raise your awareness of yourself, encourage you to stay with your feelings and aid self discovery, understanding, and self-compassion.

- The next stage on this road is ‘building bridges’ between the old and the new; trying out different feelings and behaviours in the safe environment of the counselling space.

- When both you and your therapist agree that you have achieved what you have set out to do and you have nothing else you need help with at that time, the counselling ends. It takes a few sessions to acknowledge your work together and say goodbye.
